Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH

Description

Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) is a national research institution that pursues interdisciplinary research in the fields of energy, information, and bioeconomy. As a member of the Helmholtz Association with roughly 6,800 employees in ten institutes and 80 subinstitutes, FZJ is one of the largest research institutions in Europe.

FZJ has installed a lab-pilot line for the electrochemical pre-lithiation, which is unique in Europe and globally. It has complementing project regarding fundamental studies on the impact of the electrochemical pre-lithiation process on the energy, material and cost bill in the chain of cell manufacturing.

Role and Key Contribution to the Project

FZJ is the anode development team of the greenSPEED project and will provide electrochemically pre-lithiated silicon anode materials. It has already a unique technology with its fully continuous pre-lithiation process at hand and has access to a lab-pilot machine for a continuous roll-to-roll pre-lithiation of anodes. greenSPEED will strengthen the know-how base around this process due to the application of the developed and produced electrode materials.
