During the Advanced Battery Power – Kraftwerk Batterie, our colleagues from VIRTUAL VEHICLE (ViF) and Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) actively presented key developments from the greenSPEED project.

Poster by ViF – Focus on WP5 (Modelling & Simulation)

Philip Kargl from VIRTUAL VEHICLE (ViF) presented a poster on “Finite-element simulations to assess the consequences of cell expansion for different cell geometries”. Co-authors: Florian Feyersinger, Oskar Schweighofer (both ViF); Johannes Aegerter, Mathis Ruppert (both SPEIRA); Alex Thaler (ViF).

This contribution highlights the work carried out in Work Package 5 (WP5), where ViF leads efforts in modelling and simulation. The poster showcased how finite-element simulations are being used to evaluate the mechanical behaviour of different cell geometries under anode expansion with focus on the mechanical stresses in the cell, contributing to more robust battery design approaches.
