2. and 3. December 2025 | Graz, Austria

The greenSPEED project successfully participated in this year’s Battery Innovation Days (BID), engaging with key actors from Europe’s battery ecosystem and showcasing its work alongside the Battery Heroes Cluster. The event provided an excellent platform to present project achievements, exchange with industry and research stakeholders and strengthen collaboration within the European battery community.

Cluster Booth: Connecting with the Battery Community

Throughout the event, the greenSPEED team was present at the Battery Heroes Cluster booth, where visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the project’s objectives, technological advancements and the collaborative efforts within the cluster. The booth attracted strong interest from participants eager to explore innovations shaping the next generation of European battery technologies.

Presentations

This year’s BID also featured presentations from members of the greenSPEED consortium:

Isabel Hanghofer (VARTA) – Advancing Processes and Equipment for Battery Production

Isabel Hanghofer, Development Engineer at VARTA and Work Package Leader in the greenSPEED project, delivered a talk during the session “Powering the future: Advanced processes and equipment for battery production.” Her presentation focused on strategies and technologies for scaling up sustainable battery production in Europe, covering the pathway from pilot lines to full-scale gigafactories and sharing valuable lessons learned from ongoing industrial projects. The presentation featured insights on NoVOC, GIGAGREEN, BatWoMan and greenSPEED. The presentation will be available soon!

Tim Aanhane (LeydenJar) – Commercialising Pure-Silicon Anodes

Tim Aanhane, greenSPEED project partner and commercial lead for LeydenJar’s pure-silicon anodes, also contributed to the BID programme. Tim highlighted LeydenJar’s progress in bringing the world’s highest energy-density cells to market—unlocking breakthroughs for wearables, smartphones, and drones. With experience in industrial engineering and clean-tech ventures, he presented LeydenJar’s journey from laboratory innovation to large-scale production as the company prepares its first commercial facility in Eindhoven. While his talk was not directly related to greenSPEED, it was wonderful to see the remarkable growth and impact of LeydenJar over the past years.

What’s Next?

greenSPEED’s participation at the Battery Innovation Days confirmed the project’s role as an important contributor to Europe’s battery innovation landscape. The discussions, presentations and connections established during the event will support the project’s mission to drive green and sustainable processes for electrode production.
