26. – 27. November, 2024 | Barcelona, Spain

As we reflect on our experience at Battery Innovation Days 2024 in Barcelona, we can confidently say that it was an event worth attending! Whether it was a first-time visitor a familiar face at the event, the consensus is clear: The Battery Innovation Days is an incredible conference that brings together various stakeholders in the battery innovation sector.

Joint Booth

A highlight of our time at BID 2024 was sharing a joint booth with Battery Heroes, which finally allowed many of us to meet in person. While our regular monthly calls typically happen online, nothing beats the face-to-face connections made during the event. For some of us, it was the first in-person meeting, while others were reconnecting after previous meetings. It was great to build stronger relationships with our project partners and colleagues.

The event provided valuable opportunities to connect with other clusters and projects, such as COLLABAT and AccCellBaT, and engage in discussions. Additionally, we had the pleasure of meeting our Project Officers and Policy Officers from CINEA in person, giving us the chance to discuss the progress and future steps of our respective projects.

Battery Heroes Working Groups

An interesting topic that emerged during our discussions was the role of Battery Heroes beyond dissemination and communication. It is true that much of our work involves sharing and promoting our (cluster) activities publicly, but we do not always focus on the deep technical collaborations happening behind the scenes. Fortunately, greenSPEED and our cluster projects are highly active in this area and have helped establish the Battery Heroes Sustainability Working Group. This group is dedicated to harmonising methodologies across various battery-related projects, ensuring consistency and comparability of findings, particularly when it comes to Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). In the working group, partners collaborate to tackle common challenges and develop solutions for improving LCA methodologies across the battery industry. We are excited to share more about the group’s progress and findings in the future, so stay tuned for updates!

We hope to see you again next year!
