greenSPEED, together with fellow Battery Heroes cluster projects, took part in a valuable exchange with representatives from the European Commission, including DG RTD, DG GROW, DG CLIMA and CINEA. This meeting brought together cluster projects and the LiPLANET network to discuss challenges and opportunities in sustainable battery research and innovation.

During the meeting, the cluster shared first‑hand insights from ongoing R&I activities, highlighting common obstacles such as scaling up from laboratory to pilot environments, the need for better data interoperability, and the challenges of harmonising life‑cycle assessment methodologies across projects. The discussion also covered ways to strengthen support for industrial deployment and skills development in emerging battery technologies.

greenSPEED welcomed the open and constructive dialogue with European Commission colleagues and appreciated the opportunity to contribute practical perspectives from the project’s work on low‑carbon electrode manufacturing and industrialisation pathways. Engagements like this help ensure that the outcomes of Horizon Europe projects not only advance technology but also inform future policy and regulatory frameworks shaping Europe’s battery ecosystem.
